The Cardington Sweatshirt in Dark Olive fits like a glove and has quickly become one of my favourite articles of clothing. The windproof fabric that lines the front panel takes the chill out of early morning rides. Design genius. Thank you!
Christmas came early for me this year. I was lucky enough to receive an olive green Cardington sweatshirt. Took it out for a test ride today with a 10C (50F) temperature, and couldn't be happier. How brilliant is the windproof layer to protect your torso from getting wind blasted? Love the rubber hem around the waist, it keeps the shirt in place so you don't get an unwanted draft. Perfect fit, excellent quality. FIVE STARS.
I bought the Cardington originally as a technical mid-layer due to its wind-blocking front to wear during colder rides. However, it is probably my most worn piece of 'riding' kit, as I wear it both on and off the bike. This really is a high-quality garment, with subtle detailing that doesn't look like a 'technical' sweatshirt - I wear it under a riding shirt as well as under a hoodie when snowboarding and when out walking my dog on windy or chilly days. I was out yesterday (mid-January) on my Norton and wore it under a textile jacket: it was a pretty blustery day and not once did I feel any wind chill. Only thing I would have liked is maybe a higher neck like a roll neck but this may reduce the versatility of the sweatshirt as it would then look like a 'winter' garment. And Ashely Watson also does a neck baffle for this reason. It's not cheap but it is a very high quality, British-made piece of kit- money well spent!
Warmer than it looks and full of thoughtful details. Great for summer riding / as a layer in colder months.
The only downside here is that it's too warm to wear casually; unless you're out riding or camping in spring or autumn. It's like really really warm. Which is a shame in some ways as it's gorgeous. I love the colour, pale blue in my case - which is a pig to keep clean, especially on me. But under my over-shirt with a merino base layer and I'm super warm, even on cool mornings. Fit is naturally snug, and this makes getting it off a challenge with the chest liner material seemingly limiting the flex in the fabric. A small price to pay if you plan on being out all day in it which I invariably am. It worked beautifully on a long weekend away, covers several bases and negated the need to carry a sweater in my bag. As usual, lovely quality and style all combined with a healthy dose of practicality.
The quality and style of this sweatshirt is excellent, such as other products of Ashley. Very well thought-out in regard to being used for riding your motorcycle.
Warm and windproof sweatshirt that looks very smart and has plenty of length on both body and arms for me (6ft 2”) whilst remaining well fitting around the body.
