First ride with the Eversholt MkII... This is a heavy coat - not a lightweight. However, it’s not bulky. The armour is not noticeable. The coat is very well made, with lots of pockets. I like the front ones which have what seems to be a waterproof section that my wallet fits in perfectly. It is windproof. The workings of the zipper are on the opposite side for us in the USA, not a problem. Flaps cover the zipper so air doesn't find its way in. The collar flap also is nice, no need for a scarf.
I am 5 foot 6 inches and 188 lbs. The coat in large fits me perfect. I think it will also fit bigger guys too. This coat will allow for layering. It is not overly warm, which should mean it can be a three-season garment. I like how the arm length is always right. The sleeves don't bag up when one is just standing arms at the side, or cover half my hand, and when I reach for the bars my wrist is covered. Well done AW.
I'm a guy who hates labels, and I must say the branding on this coat is nicely understated. I love how the horn buttons have Ashley Watson round them on the thin side, and the small brass AW logo on the back is very smart from a fashion sense. You're not a walking billboard promotion. Well done guys, two thumbs up from me.
Received my Eversholt Jacket MkII last week, and while I've only managed a couple of rides it’s already, without doubt, my favourite motorcycle jacket. I love the design. I love the heft, which feels solid and protective without being overly heavy or inflexible. The fit is exceptional, and the quality of materials and construction are second to none. It is absolutely the most unique and stylish piece of kit I own, and I'm looking forward to many adventures together.
TL/DR: Well made, well fitted, stylish, comfortable, and protective. Get it!
Thank you, Ashley Watson. The Eversholt MkII arrived at my door on Wednesday of this week, and I actually left work early to go get it off the front porch and rip the package open; I was not disappointed.
The words quality construction don’t even do justice when describing the Eversholt, it is a remarkedly well-made piece of clothing. Calling this jacket a ‘piece of clothing’ doesn’t seem right either. It is a very high spec, beautifully made piece of protective gear, that looks great too. All the materials from the waxed exterior & beautifully lined interior to the buttons & zippers are first-rate, with fantastic fit and finish.
The jacket’s design is also first-rate; you can tell a motorcycle enthusiast came up with it. There are so many well thought out features, I know this will be worn both on and off the bike as my ‘go to’ gear.
If I never ride a motorcycle again, I’ll still have the coolest looking jacket around. For reference, I am 6'-1" and weigh 180lbs, bought the large, and it fits perfectly.
Now I’ve been a big fan of Ashley Watson products for some time and I own the Eversholt MkI and a Hockcliffe. When I heard the Eversholt MKII was coming out and that it was going to be AAA-rated I jumped as soon as I could.
I’m in total awe of this jacket, the refinement in this jacket is truly exquisite. The changes are very welcomed. The press stud on the storm collar makes it super easy to take on and off. The cut is more refined and tailored and the neat little pockets inside the pockets are great for putting your keys in. The removal of the thermal liner makes this jacket way more useable throughout the year now. I’m a big fan of a mid-layer.
But the main thing I’m really pleased about is the AAA rating, this is the third textile jacket I know of to achieve this safety rating. AAA is fairly achievable with cow and kangaroo hide, but textile creates so many more challenges. My £1200 Klim jacket is only AA. Safety will always be my number one priority in bike gear and to have something so well crafted and safe is just spot on.
Here’s to 10000s of thousand miles, my MKI will be retired from bike life but will continue to be a staple in my wardrobe. Thanks Ashley Watson.
I received my Eversholt II jacket today and it looks and feels amazing! The design and materials feel absolutely first-rate. Ashley Watson seems to have pulled off the holy grail of a jacket that is AAA-rated, fully waterproof and looks smarter than my previous non-motorcycling jacket did for when I get to my destination. I can’t wait to put miles into it and enjoy it. Definitely my go-to jacket now.
Eversholt MKII - Look no further. Discrete, purposeful quality jacket, with all the AW subtle touches which make this a class act to wear. Get your size right & you’ll be gagging for opportunities to wear it. The price - functional on & off the bike. Personally, I’m willing to be selective for quality purchases whereby the function & purpose is clear & the designer has substance which I can relate to…not to mention the designs are top drawer.
Fits like it was tailored to me personally, this might just be the perfect bike jacket. I have a number of other high-end bike jackets and I'm not sure in which situation I would choose them over the Eversholt. The build quality, the fit, the safety and how it looks both on and off the bike are all top class. Would highly recommend one of these jackets to any rider looking for an all-season, lifetime jacket.
I watched Stuart Fillingham's YouTube review of the Eversholt Mk II Jacket. Stuart is of a similar vintage and build to myself, and in my view, gave a comprehensive, detailed, no-nonsense opinion, so I decided I'd treat myself to one. I am pleased to say that the jacket both lives up to Ashley's specifications and reflects Stuart's review.
The sizing guide was accurate, and the fit, body and arm lengths are comfortable and ideal for purpose. I have owned Belstaff and Barbour jackets in the past, but this is a higher quality garment and will last many years. It is very thoughtfully designed. It looks and feels comfortable, versatile, safe and weatherproof. It will take some time to wear in, and I look forward to doing so. I have no hesitation in recommending the Eversholt Mk II Jacket, and also AW's service, which has been attentive and helpful between ordering and delivery.
Thank you for the delivery of the new Eversholt jacket, exceptional quality and looks great too. Feels great on and off the bike. Compliments to yourself and your team for a quality piece of kit, I’m sure the last 18 months have brought many sleepless nights. I believe the feedback you’ll receive from satisfied customers like myself will have made the arduous journey all the more worthwhile. Keep up the great designs.
As usual, Ashley Watson has done it again! The Eversholt MkII fits like a glove! Perfect in every way, every detail is carefully crafted to the highest standard! Honoured to be wearing such a beautiful garment. I cannot wait to get out on the road and into nature to try this amazing bit of kit out.
Collected my long-awaited jacket on Saturday from my friend who took delivery for me. The packaging was amazing, large cardboard box, a paper bag inside and then a cloth bag with the coat, wrapped in polythene inside that, and finally a good sturdy coat hanger.
But the coat was even better, having decided on the largest model as my clothes seem the have 'shrunk' in my wardrobe following the various Covid lockdowns, I had been worried that it would be too large. But wearing a sweatshirt under it was all that was needed for a decent fit. The quality of the product really shines through, so although the temperature was still in the mid 20'sOC I took my bike for a spin wearing the jacket.
The first thing you notice is that the collar comes up nicely around your neck and wearing a baffle neck tube really cuts wind draughts etc from getting in. The pockets are ideal for keeping things dry with the extra-long flap that covers the outside ones plus the internal arrangement will make it easy to find documents etc. excellent. The extra covering to the double zip is great as there will be nothing to rub on the tank paintwork, as well as keeping wind and rain out.
I had wanted a new jacket that would look good off the bikes as well as when riding and this one fits the bill perfectly, it will be worn a lot once the weather gets colder here. Yes it’s expensive and was promised for delivery in July originally but the wait and the quality were well worth it for me. Thank you Ashley for a great product.
My only slight niggle is that the zip and button fasteners are very stiff and tight where it's new, but this will no doubt be okay after its worn in. It is however difficult for me with arthritic hands at the moment though.
AW:
Thanks for your review Morgan. Just to say that the zipper will definitely become easier to use. The reason for this is that this has just been manufactured. In a short space of time, the edges of the metal feeders will wear in a touch and it will become a lot easier to use.
With use, the front button tabs also become easier to use. Out of the box, the Eversholt MkII is a bit like a pair of raw denim jeans. In time, it will soften and become a lot easier to use - we believe it's better to be like this when new so that the jacket has the longest possible lifespan.
Here's a link to my review of the Eversholt Jacket MkII.
It was truly exciting for me when I found this jacket. I couldn’t believe it existed. The answer to my dreams of motorcycle adventure, utility, and protection while looking normal (maybe even good). I don’t *want* to look like a just got off my motorcycle when I’m walking around, exploring a new place or just running errands. The best part is- what Ashley Watson designed is in line with exactly what I was looking for in normal jackets, and at a similar price. So, I’m super excited for the company’s next version, MKII, with AAA CE protection rating! Such a huge accomplishment! There are so many times I’ve drooled over jackets (motorcycle and normal) online only to find that they fit poorly or craftsmanship/quality control did not live up to the price tag. After all those failures, I can absolutely appreciate the artistry, skill, and sheer effort it took to make something this good. I have worn high quality, normal jackets at the same price with less satisfaction in fit, finish, and/or utility. For this to work so well off the bike, then to also perform so well on the bike is a miracle in my book.
I was in between Medium and Large, so I sized up to layer and it works excellently. With the back protector, it is a little snug if I lean forward on the bike - but in a crash it’s for the best anyway. Since I've never made a jacket, I don't quite understand how it works to get the fit right. But for once the arm length, back, and overall jacket cut are finally in concert so that my wrists aren't exposed when reaching for the handlebars. And somehow you do that without an action back, which is sweet. Maybe it's as simple as lengthening the sleeves, regardless it is much needed and appreciated.
The front pockets are satisfyingly wide, deep, and easy to use with gloves, probably partially due to the genius semi-circle cutout. The throat latch is perfect, although I do add a neck gaiter for the tiny gap between that and my helmet. The BIG buttons are a dream with gloves on! Honestly haven’t tried it in much rain, but it does the job so far. The sleeves do allow a tiny amount of air in at highway speed *if you don’t adjust them right* but there is an internal elastic storm guard that really helps when used correctly. And I really like how they fit/function with the zipper closure over my gloves, so I wouldn’t change that. Plus, my favourite- the most minimal branding you can find! All things considered, the only jacket that even comes close is Rokker’s Black Jack Coat, which just doesn’t look as good to me, costs more, and has less protection (level A CE rating). While I have tried and appreciate Rokker’s gear, I’m sticking with Ashley Watson. And now my wife wants some!
Whilst the Eversholt MkI has now sold out, these brief thoughts may be of interest to anyone contemplating purchasing its successor.
It is two years since I acquired my MkI jacket and it is fast becoming an old friend. Perhaps unconventionally, my Eversholt has become my everyday jacket off the bike when autumn slides into winter. It has emerged unscathed from the past two winters during which it has always kept me snug and dry. I enjoy the feeling of climbing in and zipping all the fasteners tight ready to do battle with the elements. And I appreciate the fact that it does not look like a bike jacket. Sometimes being discreet is better.
With the body armour quickly and easily slipped in, on the bike, the length of the jacket is well-judged and I particularly welcome the absence of an unnecessary belt. Whilst so far untested, the Eversholt is reassuringly heavy and its protective qualities are such that you feel you would be well looked after should the worst happen.
As to demerits, one button came loose and I would not choose to wear it in the height of summer, such as the one we have just enjoyed in England, when temperatures rose above 35°C. But then I now have a Hockcliffe Overshirt for that...
AW: Thanks for this brilliant review John. If you have a problem with your buttons again in the future, please return the jacket to us and we will repair them for you. Just to say, we’ve addressed this issue and buttons will not be a problem with the MkII.
Brilliant on the bike. Ridden 5000+ miles in it. Windproof, waterproof. Does need a good layer underneath in very cold weather. Really good design. Stylish when stepping off the bike. Expensive initially but fantastic value in the long run. Will be wearing mine for years to come. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to more great designs even if I am not going to buy them myself.
What can I say about this Jacket? A perfect combination of form and function, I have just ridden nearly 2000 miles in the jacket around The Highlands of Scotland and the Outer Hebrides, I never once felt restricted or uncomfortable in it, so snug and well fitting with plenty of room when riding. Generous pockets with easy access, particularly love the storm collar, when doing this up it does make you feel safe and ready for the road ahead. It also took a good deal of Scottish rain and performed very well and kept me dry. Would be lovely to have some trousers of the same material and design to match.
Perfect on and off the bike! The Eversholt quickly turned into my favourite piece of motorcycle gear because it offers a lot functionality and protection against the weather and potential crashes plus it doesn't look like protective equipment at all. It is a very stylish jacket for everyday use, the perfect all-rounder.
Purchased this jacket in the summer and was waiting on the right time to wear it, that was on the DGR in Cambridge in torrential rain! I stayed completely dry and warm and very comfortable. The reliable jacket for our unreliable weather.
A superb jacket - full function and really stylish. You feel the quality and you can wear it for commuting as for long trips. Everybody is asking, if this a true motorbike jacket. Although you have full protection and function with it. Cheers to the AW team - they send me a detailed washing instruction. Super friendly people!
Had this jacket for over a year now and used it for close to 3,000 miles. I find the fit perfect, unlike other jackets I tried. It has been used in all conditions and just seems to get better with age. I had a small problem with a couple of buttons coming unstitched, but Ashley sorted this very quickly including arranging collection and return all within 1 week. I particularly like the classic look whilst still utilising modern safety and features. Fantastic product and fantastic customer service. Looking forward to this being used for many more miles.
This jacket is state of the art!!! Not only uses the best available materials for safety reasons, but the design and comfort are superb. I have used it extensively for more than 15,000 km and always feel like new. Dyneema and D30 make me be safe and feel safe and the looks are awesome!!! I also bought all the other products from Ashley Watson and his quality is top.
I bought my jacket almost 2 years ago. I was the first to buy it in my country, which I know because it came with a handwritten letter by Ashley Watson stating as much. I never replied - I'm sorry, trying to make up for it here - because I became a father for the first time just before I received the jacket and then the moment had passed it seemed.
I ride 20000 km per year, all year round through sun and rain, sometimes even snow, and at least half of that I am wearing the Eversholt jacket. It's as waterproof as any gear I've ever had, but it's also good looking and better looking with age. Unlike almost all other brands of motorcycle clothing that do pay attention to style, Ashley Watson also pays attention to the practical and safety side of motorcycle gear.
The storm baffle, the cuffs, the waterproof membrane, Dyneema lining... Everything works as it's supposed to (I haven't tested the Dyneema lining though) and keeps on working. It feels like a piece my son may eventually wear. I don't wear it when the temperature drops below 10°C, I have a good old mega Transformer Robot suit for that, but even so, I am considering buying a second Eversholt jacket 1 size up so I can wear layers and layers beneath and look stylish in Winter as well without freezing to death. Each newsletter I am hoping for more news on the trousers. Even if they are only half as good as the jacket, I will still buy them.
I help Jack at Idle Torque where we stock Ashley Watson jackets and overshirts. I had my eye on the Eversholt for sometime firstly due to the design of the garment. I then read up about its technical abilities before purchasing one myself. I have to say, it’s a really well thought out jacket that I wear on an off my bike. The attention to detail & the quality is exceptional. The branding is subtle & the jacket is stylish rather than fashionable which will give me many years of wear. All in all a fantastic jacket. Regards, Fraser.
This is my go-to jacket, almost year round, at least for as long as the riding season is on here in Norway. Mr Watson is dead on with this jacket. A superb fit, with great tailoring. This jacket works for the coldest and worst weather days that you can have on a bike, all you need is to add the storm flap and a warm wool sweater. It will shed both rain and cold, even a little snow as well. Just button the arms tight and wear winter gloves. In the midst of summer this jacket might get a little hot, if the temp rises above 22 to 24 Celsius. But it works great for summer riding, just peel off a layer and ride in a t-shirt. The protection sits in the right spots, just remember to buy the extra back protector. The pockets are great and give a lot of room for those small things you need to carry.
Best jacket I ever bought bar none, lovely details, great materials, would love to see more products in a similar style, hopefully, see more jackets down the line from you as well!
Perfect jacket for on and off The bike. I have bought two of them in Green and Midnight. Design is really adapted to our needs. Only minor concern; no pockets to put our hands…
I've been using this jacket for two years now, first year was a little stiff, however the jacket loosened up perfectly. When cold and wet the button loops become a little stiff, but this gets better over time.
Collar is perfect, not too tight when wearing a baffle. Storm flap works also great. Never got wet, even in heavy rain. However the outer fabric absorbs some water after riding for a long time in heavy rain, but the membrane does its job and keeps you dry.
This is a heavy, high quality jacket with a distinguished appearance. I'm very pleased with the looks but what I appreciate most is that despite the heavy fabric and protection I still feel very movable and comfortable.
This jacket is the result of real life testing by a dedicated motorcycling designer!
Amazing piece of work. The materials are outstanding and it feels great on journeys. Well designed and crafted by people that adore motorcycling. Thank you Ashley. Looking forward to buying your Orkney Baffle.

CE approved to the highest AAA rating, the Eversholt MkII is the world’s most protective waxed cotton motorcycle jacket. Working with the latest innovations in materials technology; our aim was to create a jacket that functions perfectly on two wheels, whilst also being a garment that can be worn day-to-day, off the bike. Form and function in equal measure.
Technical spec×
Behind the 8oz waxed-cotton outer is an incredibly strong hybrid Dyneema / Aramid abrasive resistant lining - independently tested to pass the highest AAA CE motorcycle standard. Impact protection comes in the form of removable D3O armour at the elbow, shoulder and back (all included). All seams have been engineered to withstand 12 N/m of force - the equivalent of a 1” strip of fabric holding a 30kg weight.
A seam-sealed waterproof drop-liner (10,000k), double front zip-guard and adjustable storm baffle at the neck and cuff gauntlets combine to ensure the Eversholt Jacket can cope with year-round riding conditions. Our signature three-point neck baffle can be adjusted to regulate how much wind enters the jacket.
The main bellows pockets are expandable - ideal when space is limited on a trip. An elasticated document pouch is tucked inside each bellows pocket keeping valuables to hand. The Eversholt Jacket is finished with a ‘W’ stitch detail on the back of the collar with our AW monogram rivet below.
