Design Notes

The outside of the hat is knitted in Shetland Wool - a yarn that’s both incredibly warm and hardwearing. Being so tough, it can be a touch itchy. To get around this, we’ve knitted a band of soft Merino Wool on the inside in the area that touches your head. All of the benefits of Shetland without any drawbacks.

The crown is gathered and finished by hand giving the Thurcroft its distinctive shape. To avoid having to neaten the turn-over before wearing, a ‘locator’ stitch runs around the base of the hat to ensure it always folds in the correct place (you can see this in the detail pics). This design is finished with our signature monogram label - woven on a vintage shuttle loom.
